Dolphy, Philippines' King Of Comedy Passes Away...


Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, Sr., widely regarded as "Philippines' King Of Comedy" passed away today, July 10, at 8:40PM.

83-year old Comedy King Dolphy passed away after  long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and recurring pneumonia.

Dolphy was rushed to Makati Medical Center and was confined in the hospital's ICU (Intensive Care Unit) last June 9 after complaints of difficulty of breathing and shortness of breath.

Dolphy underwent several blood transfusions and dialysis sessions since hospitalized. Complications caused by pneumonia also arose.

Dolphy would have celebrated his 84th birthday on July 25. His last film was Father Jejemon in which he played the role of a priest.

Mang Dolphy captured the hearts of Filipinos and made millions and millions laugh during his career.

Dolphy's notable roles in TV series such as John en Marsha, Home Along da Riles (Home along the Train Tracks), Home Along Da Riber (Home long the River), Home Along Da Airport (Home Along the Airport and films such as Markova: Comfort Gay, Facifica Falayfay, Tataynic (A parody of Titanic), Aringkingking, Da Best in da West 2: Da Western Pulis Stori (The Best In The West 2: The Western Police Story) and a lot more made him one of the most beloved Filipino actors of all time.

Dolphy, thank you so much for making me, and millions of Filipinos laugh. It helped us push through a lot of hardships and problems...
Farewell... We'll forever miss you... In pace requiscat...

  1. He is indeed a national treasure. He is always funny when he performs his comedy. Even if you had seen it before, it remains funny still. RIP Tito Dolphy.
